Yes this is the week that Potter & Co 'the family firm in a fine city' is moving from 2 Prince of Wales Road, Norwich after 41 years in that spot.
The family firm was started in 1921 in Lowestoft and moved to Norwich after WWII, to an office in Bank Street. In 1968 Potter & Co moved to a newly built premises on the top corner of Prince of Wales Road, formerly the old Cornhill Insurance building bought and redeveloped by Norwich Union.
The building has a distinctive chromium ball which, it is understood, was a symbol of a wheat germ, as agricultural insurance was important to Norwich Union then.
The building is now to be redeveloped again, and for the third time in it's history potterandco is on the move.
BUT NOT FAR
From 9th November 2009 potterandco 'estate agents and chartered surveyors' is moving back over the road to Bank Street!!!
