Rightmove has retained its effortless lead in portal rankings – with traffic the best part of a million ahead of its nearest rival.
According to independent website auditor Nielsen, Rightmove had 2.97m visitors in September.
The Digital Property Group, owned by the Daily Mail, with four websites including FindaProperty and Primelocation, had 2.12m.
In third place was Propertyfinder with 1.10m and in fourth place was Zoopla with 810,000.
However, Zoopla now owns Propertyfinder and when the two are shortly merged as one platform and identity – yet to be announced – it will be pushing hard on Digital’s heels.Zoopla also claim that, according to Nielsen, traffic to Digital’s sites fell, while traffic to their own rose – to Zoopla by 16% and to Propertinder by 9% – when compared with August.
The figures show that overall visitor traffic to the leading UK property websites rose from 6.97 million in August to 6.99 million in September, a 0.3% month on month rise.
Alex Chesterman, CEO of Zoopla Ltd, said: “The latest figures highlight that the UK portal space has now crystallised around three key players and we are very encouraged by our increasing market share.”He promised agents a winning formula when his two businesses are integrated.
Chesterman has already said that he will not be content with challenging Digital for second place but wants to take the fight to Rightmove itself.
